 French 		Catalypse est un shoot'em up à défilement horizontal où vous pilotez votre vaisseau contre la civilisation extraterrestre CLIO à travers cinq vastes niveaux, dont une base lunaire, une forêt extraterrestre, des cavernes obscures et une cité antique. Les niveaux regorgent de petits ennemis, fixes ou mobiles. Vous rencontrerez également des créatures plus imposantes en milieu de niveau, sans oublier les gardiens de fin de niveau. Parmi ces derniers, on trouve des créatures géantes occupant tout l'écran, des robots et des vaisseaux spatiaux. En chemin, vous pourrez collecter des bonus d'armes cumulatifs dissimulés dans des capsules. Vous aurez accès à des tirs obliques vers l'avant, un tir vers l'arrière, un laser rebondissant oblique, un puissant laser frontal et jusqu'à deux satellites indestructibles en vol stationnaire. Le jeu se distingue notamment par des voix préenregistrées dans l'introduction et une longue séquence de fin animée.
