Allemand Initial D: Special Stage für PS2 ist eine erweiterte Portierung des Arcade-Spiels Intial D : Arcade Stage (ver2).

Es gibt zwei Modi's im Spiel. Der "Arcade-Modus" ist, wie der Name schon sagt, eine direkte Portierung des Arcade-Spiels, bei dem der Spieler ein Auto aus einer Liste der berühmtesten Driftmaschinen Japans auswählt und auf den Straßen herausfordernde Charaktere aus dem Manga herausfordert. Ziel ist es hier, einfach jeden einzelnen der Charaktere zu schlagen, um die Nummer eins unter den Fahrern zu werden. Während die Spieler mitmachen, sammeln sie Punkte, die zur Aufwertung des Autos verwendet werden können.

Im zweiten Modus, dem "Story-Modus", kann der Spieler Takumi, den Protagonisten der Serie, steuern. In diesem Modus gibt es eine Reihe von Missionen, die der Spieler erfüllen muss. Diese Missionen sind den Ereignissen der Manga- und Anime-Serie nachempfunden. Bei den meisten Missionen handelt es sich um Rennfiguren aus dem Manga, und zwar in derselben Reihenfolge, in der Takumi sie in der Originalarbeit gefahren ist.

Anglais Initial D: Special Stage for PS2 is an enhanced port of the arcade game Intial D : Arcade Stage (ver2).

There are two modes present in the game. The "Arcade Mode", as its name suggests, is a direct port of the arcade game, where the player chooses a car from a list of Japan's most famous drift machines, and hits the streets challenging characters out of the manga. The objective here is to simply beat every one of the characters to become the number one driver. As players go along, they collect points, which can be used to upgrade the car.

The second mode, "Story Mode", allows the player to control Takumi, the protagonist of the series. In this mode, there are a number of missions the player must complete. These missions are modeled after the events of the manga and anime series. Most of the missions involve racing characters from the manga, in the same order that Takumi raced them in the original work.
