Allemand Das Gameplay basiert auf rivalisierenden Straßenrennteams. Die Spieler leiten eine Crew und können bestimmte Straßenrennfahrer für ihre Crew anheuern, wobei der aktive befreundete Rennfahrer als "Wingman" bezeichnet wird. Jeder angeworbene Straßenrennfahrer verfügt über zwei Fertigkeiten, eine davon ist eine Rennfertigkeit (Scout, Blocker und Drafter) und eine Nicht-Rennfertigkeit (Fixer, Mechaniker und Fabricator). Jede Fähigkeit hat unterschiedliche Eigenschaften, vom Auffinden versteckter Gassen/Seitenstraßen (Abkürzungen) bis hin zur Verringerung der Aufmerksamkeit der Polizei. Auch die von den Flügelmännern gefahrenen Autos sind unterschiedlich: Blocker fahren Muscles, Drafter fahren Exoten und Scouts fahren Tuner (obwohl die ersten beiden freischaltbaren Flügelmänner (Neville und Sal) Autos fahren, die der vom Spieler zu Beginn des Spiels gewählten Fahrzeugklasse entsprechen). Im Karrieremodus müssen die Spieler Rennen fahren und gewinnen, um Gebiete zu erobern und gegen Bosse anzutreten, um Distrikte zu erobern.

Anglais The gameplay is based upon rival street racing crews. Players run a crew and can hire specific street racers to be in their crew and the active friendly racer is known as a wingman. Each hirable street racer has two skills, one which is a racing skill (scout, blocker, and drafter) and a non-race skill (fixer, mechanic, and fabricator). Each skill has different properties from finding hidden alleys/back streets (shortcuts) to reducing police attention. Cars driven by the wingmen are also different; blockers drive muscles, drafters drive exotics and scouts drive tuners (although the first two unlockable wingmen (Neville and Sal) drive cars according to the player's chosen car class at the start of the game). In career mode, players have to race tracks and win to conquer territories and face off against bosses to conquer districts.

Los jugadores dirigen un equipo y pueden contratar corredores callejeros específicos para que formen parte de su equipo y el corredor amistoso activo se conoce como wingman. Los autos conducidos por los wingmen también son diferentes; los bloqueadores manejan músculos, los drafters manejan exóticos y los exploradores manejan sintonizadores (aunque los dos primeros puntos desbloqueables (Neville y Sal) conducen autos de acuerdo con la clase de auto elegida por el jugador al comienzo del juego). En el modo carrera, los jugadores tienen que competir en pistas y ganar para conquistar territorios y enfrentarse a jefes para conquistar distritos.

Français Need for Speed Carbon est un jeu de courses sur PS2. Le titre se déroule dans la belle ville de Palmont City, où il vous est demandé de devenir le roi de l'asphalte et du burn, en conquérant les nombreux quartiers de la cité et en acceptant de participer à toutes les courses et compétitions qui se présentent à vous. Evidemment, la police est de la partie en cas d'infraction à la loi.
Portugais O gameplay é baseado em equipes rivais de corridas de rua. Os jogadores lideram uma equipe e podem contratar corredores de rua específicos para fazer parte da equipe, sendo o corredor ativo conhecido como wingman. Cada corredor de rua contratável tem duas habilidades, uma relacionada a corridas (olheiro, bloqueador e seguidor) e outra não relacionada a corridas (reparador, mecânico e fabricante). Cada habilidade tem propriedades diferentes, desde encontrar atalhos em ruas ocultas até reduzir a atenção da polícia. Os carros dirigidos pelos wingmen também são diferentes; bloqueadores dirigem carros musculosos, seguidores dirigem exóticos e olheiros dirigem tunados (embora os dois primeiros wingmen desbloqueáveis, Neville e Sal, dirijam carros de acordo com a classe de carro escolhida pelo jogador no início do jogo). No modo carreira, os jogadores têm que correr em pistas e vencer para conquistar territórios e enfrentar chefes para conquistar distritos.
