Allemand Als eines der vielen Eishockeyspiele, die veröffentlicht wurden, kann der Spieler in dieser Version nicht nur Gretzky steuern, sondern auch andere wichtige Spieler der damaligen Zeit wie Mario Lemieux, Eric Lindros, Mark Messier und viele andere, insgesamt 600. Außerdem stehen die 26 NHL-Teams der damaligen Zeit sowie 6 internationale Teams zur Auswahl.

Das Gameplay ist ähnlich wie bei vielen anderen Eishockeyspielen mit den Standardmodi wie Exhibition, Season, Playoffs oder sogar einer "Just Play"-Option, die den Spieler sofort zu einem zufälligen Spiel bringt. Es gibt auch einen "Simulationsmodus", der dem Spiel inklusive Strafen ein authentisches Gefühl verleiht, oder einen "Arcade-Modus", der mehr auf Action ausgerichtet ist und weniger Regeln enthält. Das Spiel beinhaltet ein Batterie-Backup, sorgt für eine umfassende Übersicht mit Statistiken und bietet natürlich auch eine Zwei-Spieler-Option.

It also features the 26 NHL teams at the time as well as 6 International teams to choose from.

The gameplay is similar to many other hockey games with the standard modes such as Exhibition, Season, Playoffs or even a "Just Play" option that instantly took the player to a random game. There is also a "Simulation Mode" that gives the game an authentic feel complete with penalties or an "Arcade Mode" that was more action oriented and with less rules. A battery back-up keeps extensive track of stats and has a two-player option as well.

Les équipes sont celles du championnat NHLPA avec les vrais joueurs dont on peut redéfinir les noms ou la couleur des maillots ou changer d'équipe si on le souhaite. Les options et modes de jeu sont très nombreux avec divers championnats, un mode "jeu immédiat" pour ceux qui ne veulent pas perdre de temps, et plusieurs entrainements (libre, face-off, duel face au gardien). On peut régler le jeu en arcade ou simulation (influe sur fautes sifflées, blessures ...), permettre ou non les bastons et les fautes, voir même réduire l'inertie des déplacements.

Le squadre sono quelle del campionato NHLPA con i giocatori reali i cui nomi o colori delle maglie possono essere ridefiniti o le squadre possono essere cambiate se lo si desidera. Le opzioni e le modalità di gioco sono numerosissime con vari campionati, una modalità "partita immediata" per chi non vuole perdere tempo, e diverse sessioni di allenamento (libero, faccia a faccia, duello con il portiere). È possibile impostare il gioco in arcade o simulazione (influenza su falli, infortuni, ecc.), consentire o meno combattimenti e falli, o anche ridurre l'inerzia dei movimenti.

É possível ter acesso a um extenso registro de estatísticas e também há opção para dois jogadores.
