Allemand Original veröffentlicht im Jahre 1999 ist dies die Nummer 6 aus der King of Fighters Serie. Dieses Mal gibt es einen neuen Protagonist mit einer neuen Story anstelle des vorherigen Dreierteamformates. Jetzt haben die Teams 4 Mitglieder, wobei 3 Mitglieder aktuell kämpfen und 1 Mitglied dazu bestimmt ist „Striker" zu sein. Wie in den vorherigen Versionen sind Superspezialbewegungen möglich, sobald die Anzeige aufgefüllt ist. Dennoch gibt es ein zusätzliches Feature, welches mittels dreier Powerstock die Möglichkeit bietet entweder den Counter Modus, welcher die Offensivstärke erhöht, oder Armor Modus, welcher die Defensivstärke erhöht, auszuführen. Die Taktiken, passend für jede Situation, wurden ebenfalls verstärkt. King of Fighters 99 kommt mit 32 spielbaren Charakteren. Denkst du, du hast das Zeug die Spitze zu erreichen?
