Galaxy Force wurde in der Blütezeit der SEGA-Sprite-Skalierungshardware in den Spielhallen hergestellt.
Das Spiel ist in vier "Szenen" oder Planeten unterteilt: Sie müssen Ihr Raumschiff über die jeweilige Oberfläche des Planeten fliegen und sich nicht nur feindlichen Angriffswellen, sondern auch natürlichen Phänomenen wie Meteoriten, Lavaeruptionen und Tornados stellen. Um sie zu bekämpfen, haben Sie einen vulkanischen sowie einen nicht erschöpfbaren Bestand an Raketen. Sobald Sie sich über den Planeten gekämpft haben, betreten Sie ein Tunnelsystem in den inneren Grenzen des Planeten. Wenn sich der Tunnel dreht, erhalten Sie Anweisungen, in welche Richtung Sie manövrieren müssen, aber der schmale Tunnel bietet Ihnen wenig Platz, um Ausweichmanöver durchzuführen. Sobald Sie den Tunnel verlassen, wird der gesamte Planet zerstört und Sie gelangen zur ultimativen Boss-Begegnung.

Anglais Made in the hey-day of SEGA's sprite scaling hardware (After Burner, Out Run) in the arcades, Galaxy Force is a combination of After Burner and G-Loc R-360 set in space.

The game is divided into four "scenes", or planets: the A world is a green planet, world B is a fire-ridden lava planet, world C is a green water planet and world D is barren ice planet. You must fly your spaceship above the planet's surface, facing not only Space Harrier-style enemy attack waves, but also natural phenomena such as meteorites, lava eruptions and tornadoes. To fight them, you have a vulcan as well as an undepletable stock of missiles.

Once you have fought your way across the planet, you enter a tunnel system in the inner confines of the planet. As the tunnel turns, you are given directions as to which way you must manoeuvre, but the narrow tunnel gives you little space to take evasive action. Once you escape the tunnel, the entire planet is destroyed, leading you towards the ultimate boss encounter.

Il gioco è diviso in quattro "scene", o pianeti: il mondo A è un pianeta verde, il mondo B è un pianeta di lava infuocato, il mondo C è un pianeta verde acqua e il mondo D è un pianeta di ghiaccio sterile. Devi far volare la tua astronave sopra la superficie del pianeta, affrontando non solo le ondate di attacchi nemici in stile Space Harrier, ma anche fenomeni naturali come meteoriti, eruzioni di lava e tornado. Per combatterli, hai un Vulcan e una scorta inesauribile di missili.

Una volta che ti sei fatto strada attraverso il pianeta, entri in un sistema di tunnel nei confini interni del pianeta. Man mano che il tunnel gira, ti vengono date indicazioni su quale direzione devi manovrare, ma lo stretto tunnel ti dà poco spazio per intraprendere azioni evasive.
