Anglais Pokémon Card GB2: Great Rocket-Dan Sanjo!, released March 28, 2001, is the Japanese-exclusive sequel to the original Pokémon Trading Card Game, also for the Game Boy Color. Like its predecessor, the game was developed by Hudson Soft and published by Nintendo, and was first announced in January 2001 by Japanese website WatchImpress. It includes new enhancements, such as the ability to choose the gender of the player character, a training mode to help new players, a Deck Diagnosis to rate the effectiveness of a player's deck, and a new group of antagonists known as Team Great Rocket. The game features all cards from the original game, along with new cards from the fourth set, Team Rocket, as well as cards originally exclusive to Japanese vending machines and the Pokémon Trading Card Game Instructional Video Intro Pack, bringing the total number of cards to 445.

Like the previous title, players must travel across the game world challenging non-player characters to simulated battles using rules adopted from the original tabletop version. All locations from the original are present, along with a new setting known as GR Island which contains its own Battle Masters for players to encounter. By defeating a total of 16 Battle Masters on the old and new islands, players may challenge the game's final boss, King Biruritchi. Though an English release in North America was deemed "likely" by website IGN in 2001, the game has not been made available outside Japan. Pokémon Card GB2 earned a 29 out of 40 score from Japanese Weekly Famitsu magazine.

Français Dans Pokémon Card GB2, la Team Great Rocket, emmenée par le maléfique King Biruritchi, kidnappe les maîtres de TCG Island, et tente de dérober les cartes Pokémon légendaires. Le joueur, qui incarne au choix Marc ou Mint, doit sauver les différents maîtres et aller défier la Team Great Rocket dans leur base située sur GR Island.

Le jeu commence avec à peu près le même texte de présentation que pour Marc dans Pokémon Trading Card Game, en indiquant que le personnage a déjà battu tous les duellistes. Un grand zeppelin arrive sur l'île et vole les cartes de Marc/Mint puis de chaque duelliste dans quelques bâtiments. Néanmoins, celles présentes au laboratoire (dont celles de Ronald) ne sont pas volées. Marc/Mint se rend alors au laboratoire pour annoncer ladite tragédie. À l'intérieur, il/elle croise son rival qui demande si Marc/Mint se souvient de lui et s'il/elle a des cartes. Le personnage dit alors à son rival qu'il n'en a pas. Ronald se retrouve surpris et dit ainsi au joueur que le Dr. Mason souhaite lui parler. Le Dr. Mason annonce que des cartes de duellistes et de Maîtres ont été dérobées par la Team Great Rocket, même si le héros le sait déjà. Le docteur demande alors s'il est possible d'aider toutes les personnes volées. Il est possible d'accepter ou de refuser. Le joueur acceptant reçoit un deck starter puis un "Mini-Computer" (Mini Ordinateur) pour organiser/réarranger son deck. C'est ainsi que l'aventure commence.

Si le joueur refuse, le docteur insiste en disant que Ronald ne pourra jamais s'en sortir seul. Le joueur est donc obligé de répondre "oui".
