This is the first Phantasy Star game for the Genesis, set in a futuristic world. The turn-based combat allows you to choose between "fight", where the characters simply attack physically for one turn, and "strategy", where you can choose from several sub-commands, to defend, to use a special technique, or to run from the battle. Instead of magic there are "techniques", that require the usage of TP (technique points).

Tra questi, la storia di Motávia è la più travagliata. Ora, un'altra tragedia si é abbattuta sul pianeta. Il clima, le macchine e persino la natura cambiarono radicalmente e strane creature infestarono i campi, spaventando e distruggendo tutto e tutti davanti a loro. Dovrai risolvere un difficile enigma per scoprire cosa è successo a Mother Brain e ripristinare l'ordine e la pace sul pianeta. Logica e strategia sono le chiavi per vincere Phantasy Star II. Puoi contare su un gran numero di armi, tra cui spade, manganelli, rivoltelle, cannoni, ecc ... L'armatura e gli scudi sono attrezzature importanti per evitare attacchi dai Biomostri. As armaduras e os-escudos são importantes equipamentos para evitar ataques dos Biomonstros.
Existem vários tipos de itens e magias que podem ser usados para atacar, defender, curar e ressuscitar. É preciso saber escolher bem e no momento certo.
