Anglais Lordlings of Yore is a medieval fantasy strategy game for 1–4 players, with up to three computer opponents. Each player controls a keep and competes to become Lord of the Realm by conquering enemy lands and destroying rival strongholds. Expanding territory increases tax income, which can be used to recruit Knights and Men-at-Arms, buy spells, gather intelligence, bribe opponents, or keep peasants happy.
A powerful Necromancer can accompany your armies, casting spells and creating magical fog to hinder enemies, though he must be protected by troops when outside the castle. Players may also give gold to rivals as part of their strategy.
Each turn consists of several phases: Necromancer actions, treasury management, troop deployment, army movement, and game options. Success depends on balancing economics, military expansion, diplomacy, and magic to dominate the realm.
