Allemand Vanguard ist ein scrollender Weltraum-Shooter (einige Ebenen sind horizontal, einige diagonal und einige vertikal). Schießen Sie Ihre Feinde mit Ihrem Laser ab. Behalten Sie dabei Ihre immer kleiner werdende Treibstoffanzeige im Auge. Zum Glück wird mit jedem Feind, den Sie zerstören, Ihr verbleibender Treibstoff aufgefüllt. Finden Sie die Energiekapseln, um vorübergehend unverwundbar zu werden; die Energiekapseln erhöhen auch Ihren Treibstoffvorrat. Am Ende eines jeden Levels müssen Sie einen Endgegner besiegen, der von zwei sich bewegenden Kraftfeldern mit Öffnungen bewacht wird. Der Computer sagt den Namen der jeweiligen Zone mit einer raffinierten, synthetischen Sprache aus den frühen 80er Jahren an. Anglais Vanguard is a scrolling space shooter (some levels are horizontal, some are diagonal, and some are vertical). Shoot down enemies with your laser. Keep a close eye on your ever decreasing fuel gauge, luckily each enemy that you destroy will add to your remaining fuel. Find the energy pods to be temporarily invulnerable; the energy pods will also increase your fuel level. At the end of each level you must defeat a boss that is guarded by two moving force fields with holes in them. The computer will announce the name of the each zone using some nifty early 80's synthesized speech. The different levels include Mountain Zone, Rainbow Zone, Styx Zone, Rainbow Zone 2, Stripe Zone, Rainbow Zone 3, Bleak Zone, and the City of Mystery.

Espagnol Vanguard es un juego de disparos espaciales con desplazamiento (algunos niveles son horizontales, otros diagonales y otros verticales). Derrota a tus enemigos con tu láser. Mantén un ojo en tu siempre decreciente indicador de combustible, por suerte cada enemigo que destruyas añadirá a tu combustible restante. Encuentra que las cápsulas de energía son temporalmente invulnerables; las cápsulas de energía también aumentarán tu nivel de combustible. Al final de cada nivel debes derrotar a un jefe que está protegido por dos campos de fuerza en movimiento con agujeros. Français Dans Vanguard, votre objectif est de piloter votre vaisseau spatial vers la Cité du Mystère qui est située au bout d'un tunnel fortement gardé, et une fois là-bas, détruisez la créature Gond. Le tunnel est divisé en plusieurs zones différentes, appelées la zone de montagne, la zone arc-en-ciel, la zone de bâton, la zone de rayures, la zone sombre et la ville du mystère. Chaque zone propose différents types de vaisseaux spatiaux ennemis à gérer et peut défiler horizontalement ou verticalement. Dans la zone de montagne ou dans la zone de rayures, vous pouvez également rencontrer une capsule d'énergie marquée d'un «E». Si vous volez à travers cela, votre vaisseau devient temporairement invincible aux murs mortels de la grotte et aux nombreux ennemis qui tentent de vous arrêter.

Italien Vanguard è uno sparatutto spaziale a scorrimento (alcuni livelli sono orizzontali, alcuni sono diagonali e alcuni sono verticali). Abbatti i nemici con il tuo laser. Portugais Em Vanguard, o teu objetivo é pilotar a tua nave espacial até à Cidade Misteriosa, que se encontra no fim de um túnel fortemente vigiado, e, uma vez lá, destruir a criatura Gond. O túnel está dividido em várias zonas diferentes, chamadas Zona da Montanha, Zona do Arco-Íris, Zona do Pau, Zona das Riscas, Zona Escura e Cidade Misteriosa. Cada zona tem diferentes tipos de naves inimigas para enfrentar e pode deslocar-se na horizontal ou na vertical. Na Zona da Montanha ou na Zona das Riscas, também podes encontrar uma cápsula de energia marcada com um "E". Se voares através dela, a tua nave torna-se temporariamente invencível contra as paredes mortíferas das cavernas e os muitos inimigos que tentam impedir-te.
