Allemand Das Spiel gibt dem Spieler die Kontrolle über einen von drei Kriegern, die alle auf Rache gegen den abscheulichen Diktator Death Adder aus sind. Death Adder hat das einst friedliche Land Yuria übernommen und ihren Freund und Partner Alex ermordet. Einer der Helden ist ein streitaxtschwingender Zwerg, Gilius Thunderhead, aus den Minen von Wolud, dessen Zwillingsbruder von den Soldaten von Death Adder getötet wurde. Ein anderer ist ein männlicher Barbar, Ax Battler, der ein zweihändiges Breitschwert schwingt und nach Rache für den Mord an seiner Mutter sucht. Anglais Golden Axe is a sideways scrolling beat-em-up set in a traditional fantasy world, in which up to three warriors take up arms to rescue the kidnapped King and his Queen from the evil Death Adder.

The game's three different playable characters are an Amazonian warrior named Tyris Flare, a Barbarian hero named Ax Battler, and a Viking dwarf named Gilius Thunderhead. Each character has a special attack move that is activated by pressing both JUMP and ATTACK at the same time. Also, double-tapping the joystick right or left will make the character charge and smash into opponents.

Podremos elegir entre tres personajes distintos para embarcarnos en una aventura de rescate: Ax Battler es un humano musculoso de aspecto similar a Conan (aunque otras fuentes apuntan a un mayor parecido con el personaje He-Man), Tyris Flare es una amazona y Gilius Thunderhead un enano que blande un hacha (dorada en la versión original del juego) enorme. Français Golden Axe est un bon fantasy-beat'em up. De bons graphismes, une bande son qui met tout de suite dans l'ambiance, et une jouabilité correcte : Voila de quoi passer un bon moment. En plus, latter ses adversaires en étant à cheval sur un dragon est un des cotés fun du jeu.
Attention Golden Axe est assez facile et un joueur moyen le termine rapidos ;-)

Italien Golden Axe è un picchiaduro a scorrimento laterale ambientato in un mondo fantasy tradizionale, in cui fino a tre guerrieri prendono le armi per salvare il re rapito e la sua regina dal malvagio Death Adder.

I tre diversi personaggi giocabili del gioco sono un guerriero amazzonico di nome Tyris Flare, un eroe barbaro di nome Ax Battler e un nano vichingo di nome Gilius Thunderhead. Ogni personaggio ha una mossa di attacco speciale che si attiva premendo contemporaneamente sia JUMP che ATTACK. Inoltre, toccando due volte il joystick a destra o a sinistra, il personaggio si caricherà e si schianterà contro gli avversari.

Portugais No passado, houve uma guerra terrível entre os Deuses, os criadores do mundo, e os Titãs. Os Titãs foram derrotados graças a uma arma super-poderosa forjada pelos Deuses, chamada "Golden Axe". Graças a esta arma, os Titãs foram banidos e os Deuses legaram a Terra aos humanos. No entanto, um Titã sobreviveu: Víbora da Morte. Ele apoderou-se do "Golden Axe" e usou-o para destruir o mundo.
