Allemand Battletoads ist ein Videospiel des Spieleentwicklers Rare, das als Konkurrent zu den damals erfolgreichen Spielen der Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Reihe auf den Markt gebracht wurde.
Nach ihrer Niederlage durch die Galactic Corporation im Kampf um Canis Major zieht sich die böse Dark Queen mitsamt ihren abtrünnigen Truppen zu den entlegensten Gebieten der Galaxis zurück. Währenddessen an Bord der Vulture eskortieren Professor T. Bird und das Trio der Battletoads – bestehend aus Rash, Zitz und Pimple – Prinzessin Angelica zu ihrem Heimatplaneten, wo ihr Vater ihre sichere Ankunft erwartet. Unterwegs beschließt Pimple, der Größte der Battletoads, die Prinzessin auf eine Spritztour auf dem Toadster zu einer nahegelegenen Freizeitstation mitzunehmen.

Call the Starcops? NO! Cause you're a Battletoad! Battletoads don't cry, hide or call for help! And they certainly don't whimper! They get MAD then they get EVEN! So grab your blaster, hop on the Toadster and go get 'em!

You will control a battletoad through various levels. Some are side-scrolling beat-em-ups, other are vertical drops down a shaft, fighting as you go, others have you riding a rocket or surfboard, shooting or avoiding enemies. At the end of each area, there is a boss. In some areas, about half-way through, you may have a mini-boss.

Así que agarra tu bláster, monta en la Toadster… ¡y a por ellos!

Controlarás a un Battletoad en niveles variados: desde beat 'em ups laterales hasta caídas verticales por pozos luchando en pleno descenso; desde carreras en cohete o tabla hasta esquivar y disparar sin parar. Cada zona termina con un jefe, y casi a mitad de camino… ¡suele aparecer un mini-jefe para recordarte quién manda aquí.

Caos, músculo y actitud: puro Battletoad hasta el último salto.
