"Totsugeki Hen" erzählt die Geschichte des Helden Son Goku nach dem ersten Band des Mangas. Der Junge Son Goku trifft ein mysteriöses Mädchen namens Bulma und sie schickt ihn auf eine Mission, um die magischen Dragon Balls zu erhalten. Natürlich ist Bulma nicht die Einzige, die diese Bälle braucht, sodass der junge Held bald einigen Bösewichten gegenübertreten und sie besiegen muss, einschließlich seines ersten echten Rivalen Piccolo.

Anglais The first of the two "interactive fighters" for SNES based on the famous manga series Dragon Ball. "Totsugeki Hen" tells the story of the hero, Son Goku, following the first volume of the manga. The boy Son Goku meets a mysterious girl named Bulma, and she sends him on a mission to obtain the magical Dragon Balls. Naturally, Bulma is not the only one needing those Balls, so that the young hero will soon have to face and defeat some bad guys, including his first true rival Piccolo.

The game puts you in control of Son Goku only during battles or when there is a possibility to make a choice and to influence the storyline. There is no other gameplay in the game except fighting and picking answers from menu. The fights are one-on-one: you pause them by pressing the start button, and then program Son Goku, making him execute various moves: dash, kick, special attack, etc. Every attack can be countered by an enemy attack, and you have to follow the enemy's move pattern in order to attack and defend successfully.

Français Bien qu'affichant le fameux Z caractérisant la seconde série animée adaptée de l'ambassadeur du manga, ce second jeu de rôles Super Nintendo s'intéresse cette fois uniquement à la période pré saien de Dragon Ball, soit toute l'enfance de Goku (de la rencontre avec Bulma jusqu'au combat contre le démon Piccolo).

Ici, le joueur est assez passif. On se contente pour la plupart du temps de presser un bouton pour faire défiler les dialogues qui constituent le gros de la narration, avec quelques choix à effectuer par moment pour des conséquences plus ou moins importantes. En fait de jeu de rôle au sens strict, Super Gokuuden tient en effet plus du jeu d'aventure textuel, un genre auquel nous autres occidentaux ne sommes que très peu habitués. Cependant, l'aventure offre occasionnellement quelques séquences plus interactives, tel l'entraînement de Goku chez Tortue Géniale. Ces jeux de réflexes salvateurs viennent rompre agréablement la monotonie des phases de dialogue. Mais bien évidement, vous ne passerez pas outre les inévitables combats. Ces derniers font tous intervenir un ennemi unique à un endroit précis du récit, et reprennent un modèle simplifié des jeux de rôles japonais de l'époque, le tout en semi temps réel (style ATB) et dans une perspective de 3/4. Le système affiche également un semblant d'évolution où vous apprenez progressivement de nouvelles techniques que vous pouvez ensuite assigner librement à une commande de raccourci (une direction associée à un bouton).

Portugais O primeiro dos dois "lutadores interativos" para SNES baseado na famosa série de mangá Dragon Ball. "Totsugeki Hen" conta a história do herói, Son Goku, seguindo o primeiro volume do mangá. O menino Son Goku conhece uma misteriosa garota chamada Bulma, e ela o envia em uma missão para obter as mágicas Dragon Balls. Naturalmente, Bulma não é a única que precisa dessas bolas, de modo que o jovem herói em breve terá que enfrentar e derrotar alguns bandidos, incluindo seu primeiro verdadeiro rival, Piccolo.

O jogo coloca você no controle de Son Goku apenas durante as batalhas ou quando há a possibilidade de fazer uma escolha e influenciar o enredo. Não há outra jogabilidade no jogo, exceto lutar e escolher as respostas do menu. As lutas são um-a-um: você as pausa pressionando o botão iniciar e, em seguida, programa Son Goku, fazendo-o executar vários movimentos: traço, chute, ataque especial, etc. Cada ataque pode ser contrariado por um ataque inimigo, e você tem que seguir o padrão de movimento do inimigo para atacar e defender com sucesso.
