Allemand Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars erschien 1996 auf dem Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), einer Spielkonsole der Firma Nintendo. Es ist das erste Mario-Spiel, das auf dem Genre der Rollenspiele basiert.[1] Es wurde von der Firma Square entwickelt und von dem Konsolen- und Spielehersteller Nintendo vertrieben.[2] Super Mario RPG erschien damals ausschließlich in Japan und Nordamerika. Erst im Jahr 2008 erschien es auch in Europa auf der Virtual Console als kostenpflichtiger Download für die Wii-Konsole. Das Spiel handelt von Mario und seinen Gefährten, die danach streben Smithy zu stoppen, der sieben Sternenteile von der Sternenstraße gestohlen hat. Diese wollen die Gefährten zurückholen, um die Sternenstraße wiederherzustellen. Im Laufe der Handlung sind fünf Charaktere spielbar. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars entstand unter der Leitung von Yoshihiko Maekawa und Chihiro Fujioka sowie Shigeru Miyamoto, der als Produzent fungierte. Der Soundtrack wurde von Y?ko Shimomura komponiert. Das Spiel gilt als Vorbild für weitere Mario-Rollenspiele und als Grundstein der Serien Paper Mario und Mario & Luigi. Das Spiel Paper Mario, das das erste Mario-Rollenspiel nach diesem war, wurde anfänglich noch unter dem Namen Super Mario RPG 2 angekündigt, wurde aber noch vor der Veröffentlichung umbenannt.

Anglais Super Mario RPG is a console RPG starring none other than Nintendo's popular character Mario. This game starts off like almost every other Mario game, with Bowser kidnapping Princess Toadstool. However, when Mario goes to Bowser's Keep to save her, a giant sword made by the evil Smithy crashes into the castle and sends Mario, the Princess, and Bowser flying to separate parts of the world.

The game plays much like a traditional RPG: Mario and the members of his party gain experience points by defeating enemies. These experience points can increase the team's maximum number of hit points and flower points (magic points). The battles are also turn-based, but this time there are timed attacks and defenses. Timed attacks allow you to inflict more harm than normal to an enemy. Timed defenses, on the other hand, allow an enemy to inflict less harm than normal. You are only allowed to have three out of five team members on your party at a time. Mario is always in your party, regardless. Your team members can also purchase more weapons and abilities, along with better armor.

Portugais Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars é um JRPG estrelado por nada mais nada menos que o mais popular personagem da Nintendo: Mario. Este jogo inicia como qualquer outro protagonizado pelo bigodudo, com Bowser sequestrando a Princesa Peach. Entretanto, quando Mario chega ao castelo do Bowser para salvar a princesa, uma espada gigante construída pelo maligno Smithy cai no castelo e envia Mario, a Princesa e o próprio Bowser para diferentes partes do mundo.

O jogo funciona omo um JRPG tradicional: Mario e os integrantes de sua equipe ganham experiência derrotando inimigos. Esses pontos de experiência podem aumentar o HP e MP dos personagens. As batalhas também acontecem em turnos, porém, uma inovação presente são os tempos de ataque e defesa. O tempo de ataque permite que você cause mais dano que o normal aos inimigos. O tempo de defesa, por outro lado, permite que um inimigo cause menos dano que o normal. Você pode ter apenas três membros na equipe por vez. Mario precisa estar sempre no time.
