Anglais Taikō Risshiden is an open-ended strategy RPG set in Sengoku-period Japan, where the player takes the role of a subordinate of warlord Oda Nobunaga named Tōkichirō Kinoshita. The player chooses one of several possible professions, rolls their attributes, and must become successful in their chosen life. Each month, the player receives orders from Nobunaga, and depending on the player's performance, their status will rise or fall. Success will allow the player to rise in rank and status, while failure will see the player's influence diminish, and possibly even result in execution. Depending on the player's actions, the scenario may stick closely to historical fact, or diverge wildly. The player can travel to various locations via the overworld map, and depending upon their play style, several different modes of play may open up. The player can choose to engage their enemies in turn-based tactical battles, or foster peace through diplomacy.

Espagnol Taikou Risshiden ("La historia de éxito de Taikou", donde Taikou suele referirse a la famosa figura de Sengoku Hideyoshi Toyotomi) es el primer juego de la serie Taikou Risshiden de Koei, que es un juego de mundo abierto que le permite al jugador crear su propio personaje, y asignarle un papel en la sociedad de la era Sengoku (samurai, comerciante, etc.). Siga una trama que cambie según su posición y las decisiones que tome. Taikou Risshiden fue lanzado originalmente en computadoras japonesas en 1992, incluyendo el Sharp X68000, y luego fue trasladado al Sega Mega Drive y al Super Famicom al año siguiente. El juego nunca fue localizado o lanzado en inglés. La secuela, Taikou Risshiden II, salió varios años después para Sony PlayStation y Sega Saturn.

Français Ce jeu est un wargame historique prenant place pendant l'ère médiévale japonaise. Venant d'un éditeur comme Koei, on est pas surpris ! Contrairement à un Nobunaga's Ambition cependant, l'accent est plus mis ici sur les combats et l'histoire que sur la gestion. On est donc plus proche d'un Tactical-RPG mais en plus sérieux, en plus austère, et tout en japonais bien sur.
