Allemand Chrono Trigger ist ein Vertreter der Konsolen-Rollenspiele. Der Spieler steuert die Protagonisten in einer zweidimensional dargestellten fiktiven Welt, welche aus Wäldern, Städten und Dungeons besteht. Das Spiel wird grundsätzlich (mit einigen Ausnahmen) aus der Vogelperspektive einerseits mit einer größeren Weltkarte dargestellt, welche dann bei bestimmten Arealen andererseits in eine detailliertere Dungeonansicht wechselt, in der der Spieler Kämpfe austragen, Rätsel lösen und Objekte finden muss, um im Spiel weiter voranzukommen. Chrono Trigger hat sichtbare Gegner, so kann man im Gegensatz zu anderen Rollenspielen wie z. B. Final Fantasy an vielen Stellen selbst entscheiden, ob man kämpfen oder den Kampf umgehen möchte, jedoch werden dem Spieler an vielen Stellen die Kämpfe ?aufgezwungen?.
Anglais What begins as a carefree day at the Millennial Fair for a young man named Crono turns into a huge adventure. He will be thrusted into the ultimate trip through time and space, encountering new friends, defeating the forces of evil, and encountering the one who would destroy the flow of time.
Chrono Trigger is a role-playing game, with the usual game mechanics fare. As the characters grow in power, not only their ability scores increase, but they also learn new "Techs".
The game utilizes the ATB (active time battle) combat system from Final Fantasy game. Apart from normal Techs, it is possible to use Double and Triple Techniques. There are no random battles in the game, as all the enemies are visible on screen, and it's even possible to just pass by them entirely.
The game allows you to face your ultimate adversary at different points of time, which leads to several different endings.

Chrono Trigger est un jeu de rôle, avec les mécanismes de jeu habituels. Au fur et à mesure que les personnages gagnent en puissance, non seulement leurs valeurs de capacité augmentent, mais ils apprennent également de nouvelles "techniques".
Le jeu utilise le système de combat ATB (active time battle) du jeu Final Fantasy. Il n'y a pas de combats aléatoires dans le jeu, car tous les ennemis sont visibles à l'écran, et il est même possible de les contourner entièrement.
Le jeu vous permet d'affronter votre adversaire ultime à différents moments, ce qui donne lieu à plusieurs fins différentes.

Quando Crono incontra una giovane ragazza di nome Marle, non si rende conto che questa giovane ragazza, l'invenzione del suo migliore amico Lucca, e un misterioso ciondolo lo spingeranno nel viaggio definitivo attraverso il tempo e lo spazio, incontrando nuovi amici, sconfiggendo le forze del male, e incontrare colui che avrebbe distrutto il flusso del tempo.

Portugais Em 1000 AD, Crono e Marle observam Lucca e seu pai em uma demonstração de seu teleportador em uma feira milenar. Quando Marle se candidata a testar o aparato, seu colar interfere com o teleportador e gera um portal do tempo que a puxa para dentro. Depois que Crono e Lucca conseguem gerar o portal novamente e chegam em 600 AD, encontram Marle, mas ela desaparece logo depois. Lucca percebe que o reinado deste período confundiu Marle com uma ancestral sua que havia sido sequestrada, e com isso desistiu de procurar por ela.
